Emily's Story

Hi - I'm Emily and I've been living with psoriasis for over 20 years now. At first, it was just a small patch on my elbow, but it quickly spread to other areas of my body. I tried all sorts of steroid creams and stuff, but nothing really worked. Or it worked, but it got way worse if I stopped using it.

Then I started on biologics, and finally found something that worked for me. I was on Skyrizi for a while and it was a miracle. My skin cleared up and I felt like a new person. I felt CONFIDENT again, I felt BEAUTIFUL again. Seriously, amazing. I could wear short sleeves IN PUBLIC!!

But then, some patches started showing up again. I was devastated.. too good to last. I went back to my dermatologist and we are now trying a different biologic (Taltz). I am feeling optimistic, but after last time it's hard not to feel discouraged.

Living with psoriasis has definitely been a rollercoaster of emotions for me. It's been hard to manage, especially with two kids. But I've learned to take care of myself and my skin, I make my own skincare products (which is why/how I stumbled across this blog) and I try to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle (usually).

I've also found a supportive community on facebook and reddit, people who understand what I'm going through and it has helped me to not feel alone. And I remind myself that this is not my defining feature and that I am more than my skin. I am a f***ing badass, and I will keep fighting.
