DIY Skincare for Psoriasis: Exfoliating Body Scrub

Updated: Feb 15, 2023

Psoriaguy here!

In this post, we'll show you how to make a homemade exfoliating body scrub. Many commercial scrubs can be too harsh for psoriasis-prone skin and can actually worsen your symptoms. That's why making your own exfoliating scrub at home can be a great solution. Not only is it cost-effective, but you can also control the ingredients and customize it to suit your specific skin needs.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (plus extra for eating.. ok, maybe not)

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp colloidal oatmeal (you can make your own by blending rolled or old fashioned oats to a fine powder)

  • 1/2 cup grapeseed oil (feel free to replace with another carrier oil of your choice)

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil

  • 6-8 drops lavender essential oil

Instructions:

  1. Combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and colloidal oatmeal into a medium-sized mixing bowl, and stir until combined

  2. Add the grapeseed oil, coconut oil, and lavender oil, and stir until combined

  3. Scoop the mixture into an airtight container

Pretty simple, huh?

To use the scrub, simply wet your skin and apply a small amount to your face or body. Gently massage the mixture into your skin in a circular motion for 1-2 minutes, then rinse off with warm water. For best results, use the scrub 2-3 times a week in the shower.

Give it a try at home, and let me know what you think!
